![]() Playstation controllers from the PS2 and PS3 generations typically have pressure-sensitive face buttons. Meanwhile, "analog" buttons have multiple states, usually corresponding to how much pressure is being applied. Thanks for your time.In this context, "digital" buttons have two states - on and off. If this affects you personally, as it has me, remedy these feelings by discussing the series and your fond memories of it, or hell, even possible solutions to this matter. If you do not care about things like this, please move on. Since there are no answers to these issues, it looks like one of the greatest series ever made will continue to live in the past. So what could happen to remedy this? Sony could acquire the rights to Metal Gear (not likely), purchase Konami as a whole (they might not be able to afford it), or try and get Bluepoint to remake the games to keep the series alive. If you ever want to go back and play them on current gen, you'll be playing with handicap. People who grew up with it will have to scalp for older PlayStations to play them effectively. Metal Gear may not be a priority or even a "look back" game franchise to Sony. What does this mean going forward? Not much. Unless Bluepoint Games is remaking the series, or Sony somehow acquires the rights of Metal Gear or Konami, the Metal Gear Solid series is effectively dead. This means that one of the best gaming franchises is pretty much dead in the water now. To further add, Konami does not seem to want to fix or add anything to this series going forward. This means that if PS5 ever does allow older PlayStation emulation from the box itself, games like the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection will not work on it. Why does this matter, or why should you care? Well, Metal Gear Solid is a classic series that helped build the PlayStation brand. I just tested PS Now on PS5 and the DualSense (Like the DualShock 4) does not have pressure sensitive buttons. Pressure sensitive face buttons are the circle, cross, square, and triangle when pressed lightly or pressed firmly, create different actions. ![]()
